MEET THE TEAM

Christine Dixon RVN C-SQP
Managing Director / Registered Veterinary Nurse
I have been working within veterinary practices since 2007 and I am a registered Veterinary Nurse as of 2012. I am particularly passionate about pet wellbeing and feline behaviour. I am qualified to supply and prescribe a range of veterinary licensed preventative products such as Drontal, Advantage, Panacur etc. I strive to provide clients with personal, friendly, expert advice on preventative care and offer services at an affordable price in the comfort of your own home. Let's make life happier and healthier for all of our pets!

Caroline Bales RVN
Practice Manager / Registered Veterinary Nurse
I have worked in practice for 15 years and qualified as a veterinary nurse over 10 years ago. Since then I have had the pleasure of working in several veterinary practices in the North East. I find treating pets is not only about assessing the animal, it’s also about communicating with the owner and working together to make sure everyone is happy. Working at Vets on the Meowve has meant I’m able to meet families and pets in their own homes which has huge advantages. We have such strong bonds with our pets and I love that my jobs involve keeping our much-loved pets happy and healthy.

Gemma Rutherford MRCVS
Lead Veterinary Surgeon
Born in Newcastle, I returned back to the North East when I graduated from the RVC in London in 2009. Having worked in busy small animal practices for 13 years, I realised after having my son, that my heart was in the consulting side of my job rather than the surgery. I enjoy spending time with the pets and their parents, performing thorough examinations, working at their pace, talking through options and decision making together, and building a bond of trust with the family. I joined the Vets on the Meowve team in March 2023. What better way than to meet pets than in the comfort of their own home! I love being able to spend time with a family (because let’s face it, pets are family) in their own environment, where there are no time constraints and everyone is more at ease. I work part time as have a young family which I love spending time with and a very spoilt cavapoo who was my first baby, and I can wait to meet all of yours.

Phillipa Long VCA
Veterinary Care Assistant
I have been working in practice for the past 3 years as a veterinary receptionist, whilst I completed my studies at Northumbria University. I have a huge passion for animals and organising their care. Working as part of the vets on the meowve team is such a fabulous opportunity to for me that I am extremely excited about. I will be mostly based in the office making sure everyone is kept up to date with their pets care as well as answering any of your enquiries and keeping you all in the loop on social media. You might even see me out in the van helping our wonderful team when needed cannot wait to meet all your wonderful fur babies.

Sarah Noponen BS BVMS PgDipVPH MRCVS
Locum Veterinary Surgeon and Official Veterinarian
My veterinary journey started in 2003 as a sixteen year old high school student working part time at a pet store and also volunteering at a vet clinic. I then went to the University of Massachusetts Amherst for my first bachelor degree (BS Animal Science). During my four year course, I worked as a microbiology lab assistant, as a farm hand on the university camelid farm, as an intern at the local animal shelter, and as an animal care assistant at a vet practice. I then attended the University of Glasgow School of Veterinary Medicine, and qualified in 2015 with a Bachelor in Veterinary Medicine and Surgery (BVMS), as well as a Post Graduate Diploma in Veterinary Public Health (PgDipVPH), and also became a member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (MRCVS). In addition to my experience of working in the UK, I have worked in the US (small animal), South Africa (wildlife), Malta (small animal), and Egypt (equine). I have been working in the North East since 2017 and also became an Official Veterinarian (OV) in 2021. All that being said, being a vet is my passion, and I couldn’t imagine doing anything else. I will always offer and try to provide the care to your pet that I would want for my very own.
