MEET THE TEAM
Mariana Alvarez BVM&S MRCVS Managing Director
Lead Veterinary Surgeon
I’m originally from Spain, where I completed my veterinary studies in 2015. Upon relocating to the North East of England, I found myself captivated by the region's charm and warm hospitality. I joined the Vets on the Meowve family in 2020. I was fascinated by the nature of their mobile service, and I came to the realisation that this was the way in which I wanted to deliver my services to pets and to our community, so I set up a branch in Teesside. I find immense fulfilment in delivering veterinary services to pets in their homes as it creates a more relaxed environment and allows for tailored and comprehensive care without time constraints. I love witnessing the role that pets have within families and I’m happy that I can contribute to their wellbeing, helping to preserve that incredible bond between animals and humans. In my personal life, I share my home with Puck, a cheeky rescue cat who lightens up my days. I’m looking forward to meeting you all!
Sarah Jane Mawson
Registered Veterinary Nurse
I have been working in practice for 13 years now, starting when I was a student nurse right up to being Head nurse. My nursing role now at Vets on the Meowve is different to anything I have done before, but I love it! I am passionate about making the patient less stressed during their vet visit, which is much easier to achieve in a mobile setting as we are coming to see them in their own environment. I also enjoy the client care aspect of the job as we see a lot of owners who find it difficult to get to a static practice. I feel like we get to know our pet families on a closer basis, as we can take more time in our consultations. This is another reason I particularly enjoy our nurse days, where I can spend more time one on one with our owners and their pets. Job satisfaction is important to me and working at Vets on the Meowve allows me to drive home knowing I have done something to help our owners and their precious pets. In my spare time I enjoy riding my horse Max, who is 22 years young, and walking my two rescue lurchers Molly who is 10 and Ralph who is 13 - they all keep me on my toes!
Michelle Rose-McCaffrey
Customer Care Team
I have worked in various different veterinary practices and referral hospitals around the North East since 2016, working as a receptionist and Auxiliary Nurse. My passion to help pets lead a pain free life, and support their journey of better movement and mobility then led me to train to become a small animal hydrotherapist and laser specialist. I joined the Vets on the Meowve Team in September 2023 as part of the Customer Care Team, so I will mostly be based in the office answering all of your enquiries, organising our diary and getting to know you and your wonderful pets so that we can provide you with our personalised service. I love knowing that we are supporting owners and their pets at home in a stress-free environment. Outside of work, I spend my time with my two wonderful grandchildren and look after my two cavaliers Poppy and Izzy, my frug (Frenchie x Pug) Ivy and my two cats Thor and Rocket.
