MEET THE TEAM
Callie Thornton BVMS GPCert(SAS) MRCVS.
Lead Veterinary Surgeon, Director
After graduating from the University of Glasgow in 2011 and completing her first year as a mixed vet in Kidderminster, Callie moved to North Wales in 2012 and has been in a busy small animal practice there ever since. Originally from Leicestershire, Callie and her husband now see Wales as their home and have 2 children, a spaniel cross called Hunter and a cat called Derwen. Throughout her career, Callie has remained committed to combining clinical excellence with compassionate, patient-centred medicine, ensuring that both animals and their owners feel supported, informed, and confident in the care they receive. After a decade in practice, she gained a love of surgery and completed a surgical certificate in 2022. Callie has spent the last 5 years as Clinical Director, responsible not only for clinical standards and patient outcomes, but also for mentoring veterinary teams, supporting colleagues, and maintaining exceptional levels of client care. This role strengthened her belief that outstanding veterinary medicine is built on trust, clear communication and strong relationships. Patient welfare and the bond between animals and their owners are central to Callie’s approach to veterinary care. She understands that pets are family and places great importance on taking the time to listen, explain options clearly, and tailor care to the individual needs of each patient and household. Reducing stress for both animals and owners was a driving factor in establishing a mobile veterinary service. By providing veterinary care in the comfort of the client’s home, Callie’s aim is to offer a calmer, more personal experience without compromising on clinical standards. Mobile practice allows for longer consultations, a deeper understanding of each patient’s environment, and a more relaxed setting for nervous or elderly animals. It also supports continuity of care and the development of long-term, trusted relationships with clients. She looks forward to developing those relationships with each Vets on the Meowve customer.
